1985

- The Congregation for the Oriental Churches granted permission to start the philosophy institute by the decree Prot. No. 173-84 dated 28-1-1985.

1986

- Ruhalaya Philosophy Seminary was started on July 3rd at Kammed. 
- Fr. Parayady Thomas was appointed as the first rector. 
- Frs. Paul Mudathotty, Jose Edattukaran and Sebastian Arackaparambil were appointed as the staff members.

1987

- Ruhalaya library was established. 
- Mother Theresa visited Ruhalaya on 13-3-1987. 
- Rev. Frs. Johnny Kariathil and Joseph Vedikunnel were inducted into the staff.

1988

- Rev. Frs. Sebastian Koottumkal and Thomas Muthuparakunnel were absorbed as staff members.

1989

- Rev. Frs. Thomas Kannany, Davis Kavumkal, Paul Vadakeoram and Kurian Kochettonnil joined the staff. 
- Bps. Mar. Gregory Karottembrayil and Mar Abraham Viruthikulangara calls on Ruhalaya.

1990

- Rev. Fr. Kurian Ammanathukunnel joined the staff. 
- Ruhalaya publication released its first book “An Indigenous Missionary Endeavour” written by Dr. Sebastian Vadakel.
- Seven North Indian bishops namely Mar Januarius Palathuruthy, Mar Pastor Neelamkavil, Mar Abraham Mattam, Mar Gracious Mundadan, Mar Gregory Karottemprayil, Mar Paul Chittilapally and Mar John Perumattom visited Ruhalaya.

1991

- Fr. Kurian Ammanathukunnel was appointed as the rector. 
- Fr. Manual Karimpana joined the staff.

1992

- Fr. Joseph Olikkara joined the staff. 
- Ruhalayans got the great chance to experience Maha Kumbha Mela in Ujjain

1993

- Missiological conference was conducted at Ruhalaya between September 28 and October 3rd.
- His Eminence Cardinal Antony Padiyara the Major Arch Bishop, Abraham Kattumana the then Papal delegate visited Ruhalaya. 
- Rev. Frs. Emmanuel Mattam and Antony Thundathil joined the Ruhalaya staff and Fr. Paul Mudathotty rejoined the staff.
- ‘The Excellent Board’ a facility for brothers to express their talents in arts and literature was inaugurated.

1994

- Bps. Mar Simon Stock and Mar Abraham Mattam visited Ruhalaya. 
- Rev. Frs. Luke Marappally and Joseph Thekkekarottu joined the staff. 
- Ruhalaya choir bagged the trophy in a musical competition held at Vikram Keerthi Mandhir, Ujjain.

1995

- Rev. Fr. Paul Vadakkeoram rejoined the staff. 
- Bps. Mar Pastor Neelamkavil and Mar Dominic Kokatt visited Ruhalaya.

1996

- Fr. Paul Mudathotty was appointed as the rector of Ruhalaya. 
- Bp. Mar Abraham Viruthikulangara visited Ruhalaya. 
- A symposium was conducted on “Swaraj - a Political Philosophical analysis” at Ruhalaya. 
- Frs. Joseph Kappiliparambil, George Valiyamangalam and George Kuppayil joined the staff.

1997

- Inauguration of Ruhalaya Theologate on 8-7-1997 by His Grace Dr. Paschal Toppo the Arch Bishop of Bhopal.
- A Philosophical symposium on “Freedom in the Socio-Political Milieu of India” was conducted at Ruhalaya 
- Rev. Frs. Alexander Pinamarukil, Joseph Palakeel and Sebastian Koottumkal joined the staff.

1998

- Ruhalaya Philosophy faculty was affiliated to the Pontifical Urban University, Rome. 
- Apostolic visitation - a team consisting of His Grace Alan De Lastic Arch Bp. of Delhi, His Grace Leonardo Le Gaspi, His Excellency Mar Abraham Mattam, His Excellency Bp. Charles Soreny and Fr. Raj SJ paid a brief visit to the seminary. 
- Rev. Frs. Sebastian Elanjimattom, Joseph Vedikunnel, Joseph Venattumattam and Kuriakose Kunnel joined the staff.

1999

- Rev. Fr. John Kudiyiruppil was inducted into the staff. 
- The first Ecumenical Prayer meeting was conducted at Ruhalaya.

2000

- Rev. Fr. James Athikkalam took charge as the rector.

2001

- Rev. Fr. Jacob Kulathoopurayidam joined the staff. 
- The newly constructed block of theology section was inaugurated.
- Bps. Mar Simon Stock, Mar Joseph Kunnathu, Mar Peter Celestine, Mar Gregory Karottembrayil visited Ruhalaya.

2002

- A Symposium on the subject “The role of religions in the multi religious context of India” was conducted. 
- Formators renewal programme was held at Ruhalaya. 
- Ruhalaya was the venue for the 41st North Indian Theology Conference. Participants were present from 23 theological institutes. 
- Rev. Fr. Thomas Manjalankal joined the staff

2003

- Rev Fr. John Kudiyiruppil took charge as vice-rector of theology
- International seminar on communicative theology was conducted at Ruhalaya.
- Ruhalaya started admitting religious sisters for Philosophical and Theological studies opening its door before the universal church.
- Rev. Fr. C.D. Sebastian and Fr. Roy Muthumakkal joined the staff.
- Major Arch Bishop Mar Varkey Vithayathil visited Ruhalaya.

2004

- Rev. Bp. Mar Sebastian Vadakel inaugurated the new academic block of theology section. 
- Rev. Fr. John Manjamattam was absorbed into the staff.

2005

- The newly constructed Ruhalaya Animation and Empowerment Centre ASARA was blessed by Mar Sebastian Vadakel.
- National Theological Conference on Bible and Communication was organized at Ruhalaya jointly with the CBCI Commission for Social Communication.
- Rev. Frs. Shaji Parayankuzhiyil and Joseph Kannamthadam joined the staff.

2006

- “Sophia 2006” A Symposium and Exhibition on the relevance of philosophy was conducted at Ruhalaya.
- Ruhalaya theology faculty was affiliated to Paurastya Vida Peetam Vadavathoor, Kottayam, through the decree no. 1068-2006-4 of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Rome, and dated 15-9-2006. 
- Rev. Frs. Aryankalayil Joseph and Joy Panjikaran were absorbed into the staff. 
- A seminar was conducted on globalization.

2007

- The newly built chapel of Ruhalaya theology section was solemnly blessed and consecrated on 21-11-2007. 
- Rev. Frs. Joshy Mullappallil and Vincent Kadalikkattilputhenpurayil joined the staff. 
- A symposium on the New Education Policy of the Catholic Church was conducted.

2008

- Rev. Frs. Varghese Vithayathil, Chacko Matttathilanickal, James Marottikudy, Joseph Kochayankanal and Joseph Cheriampanatt joined the staff. 
- Rev.Fr. John Kudiyiruppil re-joined the staff after one year sabbatical break. 
- Rev. Fr. Joseph Venattumattam took charge as the rector. 
- Newly constructed library building of theology section was inaugurated. 
- Rev. Dayabhai visited Ruhalaya and gave her message on the occasion of Fr. Maliparambil Memorial lectures.

2009

- Fr. Manoj Parackal joined the staff.
- A seminar on value-based intervention for the prevention of HIV Aids by Prof. Gracious Thomas was conducted.

2010

- Silver Jubilee year was formally inaugurated on 3 July. 
- Ruhalaya hosted an International Symposium on Christian Response to the Contemporary Issues in Religion and Ethics. An exhibition on World Religions was also mounted in connection with it.
- Silver Jubilee celebrations were held on Nov.17th and 18th.
- Rev.  Frs. Joshy Areeplakkal and Ivan Muthanattu joined the staff.
